Mid Missouri Lacrosse League 2017 Off Season Updates:

1.We are updating/cleaning up our email distribution list.
◦ Please respond to the email if you would like to be removed from further communications from MMLL.

2.We are considering a 5 week indoor Lacrosse off-season session at the MAC. It would probably be 1 hour on Sunday afternoon/evenings from mid-November to mid-December. Depending on numbers, it would probably be no more than $55 per kid for the five weeks. In order to make the reservations, we would need commitment of at least 10 kids. This will be a great way to get the kids out of the house and give them some additional time practicing their LAX Skills.
Please respond by Tuesday, October 31st if you are interested.

3.We have met as a board to start planning for next Spring season. A few things of interest.
◦ Free clinics will be at the ARC
– Saturday, March 17th at 10:30am
– Wednesday, March 21st at 5:30pm
◦ Season practices will be 6-7:30pm every Tuesday and Thursday beginning Tuesday, April 3rd and ending Thursday, May 17th.
◦ Games will be Sunday afternoons starting May 15th and ending May 20th.
◦ We need people interested in keeping the league going in the future. The current three board members all have 7th graders this year, so 2019 will be our last year in the league. We would love to have some one from the younger age group talk to us about a succession plan. Ideally, we would have at least one board member for each of the three or four highest age groups. This would allow for a ‘one a year’ succession plan vs the three we will need following the 2019 season.
◦ We are trying to expand the league to more kids. This year we are going to distribute a flyer through the new PeachJar email distribution system offered for the Columbia Public Schools. The flyer will be distributed on February 15th to all elementary and middle schools in Columbia. We are hopeful this will reach a significant number of parents and will trigger interest in participating in the clinics and then the league. Please feel free to send this to anyone you might think could be interested in playing.  It can be found in the documents section of our website.

MMLL Practice CANCELLED

We just received an email from Parks & Rec and they said the fields are too wet to practice on, so they are cancelling all outdoor activities for tonight.
See you on Thursday, which at least for now, looks better weather-wise.
Also, you can sign up to receive emails from the city specifically for lacrosse by going to this site:  https://www.como.gov/Web_Mail/
* You can also call the hot line at 573-874-7663

This gives you a another couple days to get registered, if you have not done so already!!
We would love to have a large turnout on Thursday.

Today’s First Practice Update

A couple updates:
1) We are watching the weather and will make a decision at 4pm.
– you can also check with Columbia Parks & Recs Rain Hotline at 573-874-7663.  We will follow the soccer field cancellations.
2)  We will practice in the rain as long as there is no lightning or severe weather.
3) We will still take registrations through this week, so it is not to late to sign up.  We even have a few registration fee assistance available thanks to donations from our sponsors.  Please contact the league email if you are interested in playing and the costs are a concern.
We will send another update at 4pm.

Not too late to Register

It is still not too late to register. We are still taking registrations.

For those registered already, we will send a separate email soon. But, as a reminder to all, practice starts on TUESDAY, April 4th from 6pm to 7:30pm on Soccer Field 6 (identified as C-6 on the Map of Cosmo Park). Don’t forget to bring your helmet, pads, stick and mouth guard.

We hope to see a large turn out on Tuesday.

2nd Free Clinic – Wednesday, March 22nd

Wow, what a great turnout last Saturday for the first Free Clinic!  We had over 20 kids show up with interest in possibly playing this year.  The exciting part was that 15 of them were new to lacrosse.

We are having another Free Clinic tomorrow, Wednesday, March 22nd from 5:30pm to 7pm at the ARC. I hope to see another great turn out.  Looks like the weather may hold out and be nice for us. Remember, you are welcome to attend both clinics.

After that, we have Spring Break and then our season will begin with the first practice on Tuesday, April 4th.  If you have not registered, please do so soon.  We will take registrations up to the first practices, but we would appreciate them earlier.

Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday and we look forward to seeing you soon.
